Tropical Maca Smoothie (With a Kick)
This energizing smoothie is infused with tropical flavors to get you in the mood for summer! Chef Ari utilizes maca root powder in this recipe for it's adaptogenic qualities as an energy booster, stress reliever and mood enhancer.
Ingredients
orange juice | 1.5 fl oz | 42 g | 3 tablespoons |
banana (frozen) | 1.4 oz | 40 g | 2/3 medium banana |
mango (frozen) | 1.2 oz | 34 g | 1/4 medium mango |
pineapple (frozen) | 2.2 oz | 62 g | just under 1/2 cup pineapple |
maca powder | 0.3 oz | 8.5 g | 1 and 1/2 teaspoons |
honey | 0.25 oz | 7 g | 1 teaspoon |
carrots (peeled) | 1.5 oz | 43 g | 1/2 large carrot |
jalapeño | 0.15 oz | 4 g | 1/4 jalapeño pepper |
ginger (peeled) | 0.1 oz | 3 g | 1/2 inch chunk |
almond milk | 2.5 fl oz | 71 g | 1/3 cup milk |
Directions

Peel carrots and ginger and remove the end nubs on the carrots.

Blend all ingredients together in a high powered blender until desired consistency is reached (about 1 minute). Take care not to over-blend.
Pro Tips

Peeling the carrots and ginger is not 100% necessary, but it does help give the flavor a lighter, refreshing taste.

If your blender has a tough time processing, add a little more liquid, either orange juice or almond milk.
