Easy & Fast Spiked Apple Cider Cocktail
When the weather gets cold, nothing beats this hot spiked apple cider recipe. The alcohol is optional, but the tasty-cozy-deliciousness is not.

Ingredients
Optional Garnishes
star anise | 2 pods |
cinnamon sticks | 2 sticks |
apple (red; we prefer half Fuji and half Red Delicious) | 1.1 lbs |
orange (peeled) | 0.7 oz |
lemon | 0.5 oz |
ginger | 0.5 oz |
ground cinnamon | 0.5 tsp |
ground clove | 0.1 tsp |
ground nutmeg | 0.1 tsp |
spiced rum | 4 oz |
Directions
If You Have a Juice Press

Wash, weigh and prep the produce.

Quarter the lemon and place in the press chamber of the juice press.

Grind all of the produce except the lemon, which is already in the press.

Press!

Whisk in the spices.

Slowly bring to a simmer over low heat, remove from heat and add the rum.

Garnish with a cinnamon stick and star anise pod (optional) and serve.
If You Don't Have a Juice Press

Wash and weigh the produce.

Peel the lemon and orange and juice with the rest of the ingredients.

Whisk in the spices.

Slowly bring to a simmer over low heat, remove from heat and add the rum.

Pro tips

Got a sweet tooth? Add maple syrup or a pinch or two of brown sugar.

Substitute spiced rum for spiced whisky (like Fireball) if that’s more your speed.
