Cold-Pressed Charcoal Lemonade
Activated charcoal is the star of this cold-pressed lemonade, removing toxins and giving it that cool black color. The sweetness comes from apple in this variation, making it a healthy and tasty choice on a hot, summer day.
Ingredients
red apple | 17.25 oz | 489 g | 2 1/2 medium apples |
lemon | 2.79 oz | 79 g | 1 small lemon |
ginger | 0.12 oz | 3 g | 1/3 inch of ginger root |
activated charcoal (food safe) | 0.125 oz | 4 g | 1 teaspoon charcoal |
Directions

Wash produce thoroughly.

Weigh the ingredients.

Quarter the lemon (leaving skin on) and place directly into the press. If you don’t have a juice press, peel the lemon and juice with the rest of the ingredients.

Grind the remaining ingredients together and press.

Add the activated charcoal to a bowl and slowly whisk the juice in to avoid clumps.

Serve over ice!

If you are a juice business, make sure your activated charcoal package is labeled as “food safe”, otherwise you may run into trouble with the health department if questioned.
