Beet Apple Juice Shot with Maca
Chef Ari's latest creation harnesses the power of beets in this flavor-balanced juice shot. Compounds found in beets have the ability to lower blood pressure, improve stamina, and maintain healthy weight.
Ingredients
beet | 4 oz | 113 g | 1 small beet |
ginger | 6 oz | 170 g | 1 1/2 cups chopped ginger |
maca powder | 0.15 oz | 4.25 g | 1 teaspoon powder |
green apple | 7 oz | 198 g | 1 large apple |
chia seed | 0.1 oz | 2.8 g | 3/4 teaspoon |
lemon | 0.25 oz | 7 g | 1/8 of a lemon |
Directions
-
Wash the produce, scrubbing the beets carefully. Remove the tops and bottoms from the beets.
-
Quarter the lemon (leaving skin on) and place directly into the press. If you don’t have a juice press, peel the lemon and juice with the rest of the ingredients.
-
Grind the produce, then press.
-
Mix the maca into the juice.
-
Add the chia to the serving glass or bottle and pour the juice on top.
Pro Tips
-
No need to peel the ginger, it actually has a light gingery flavor and some nutritional value as well.
-
Adjust to your taste! You can add less apple for more punch, or more apple to make it like a cider.
-
When juicing with beets you need to be slightly cautious, if you add a touch too much beet, it can turn the blend into syrup.
