Three Dots Displayed
"OF" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "OF" message displayed on your EG-400 keypad. “OF” is a fault message indicating a short circuit on the output of the VFD or a failed output transistor inside the VFD itself. Have qualified personnel inspect the wiring at the VFD output as well as at the motor leads. Qualified personnel should also inspect the motor itself for defects. If wiring and motor are determined to be in correct working order the VFD must be replaced. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team.
"CL" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "CL" message displayed on your EG-400 keypad. “CL” is a warning message indicating that the motor is drawing more amps than the current limit setting entered into the VFD. This warning message may be displayed for multiple reasons, all of which are listed below, along with possible solutions: Incorrect Speed Setting There is a direct relationship between speed and horsepower when operating the grinder. As you increase speed you increase the horsepower. If you experience a “CL” warning when operating at slower speeds(below 45hz), increase the speed to above 45hz and continue grinding. Product Build-Up While processing certain products, a “CL” warning will be an indicator of built up product inside the hopper. This can happen after long production runs. To address this, simply open the hopper (with unit powered down), clean out built up product and reattach the hopper. Dull or Incorrect Grinder Screen The grinder screens are a consumable and after extended use they will start to dull. As a grinder screen dulls it becomes more susceptible to clogging, allowing product to build up. It is recommended that a replacement grinder screen is on hand at all times. Using an incorrect grinder screen can also cause a “CL” warning. Always match the grinder screen to the product you are grinding. "LF" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "LF" message displayed on your EG-400 keypad. LF is a fault message indicating that the incoming line voltage is too low. To troubleshoot the issue have a qualified electrician perform the following tests: Verify incoming voltage to the VFD is 208-230v AC. If voltage is correct, VFD has most likely failed and needs to be replaced. To test this, have qualified personnel remove the wires between the VFD and motor then power up EG-260 and press start. Do you still get the “LF” error? If yes, replace VFD. If not, there most likely is an issue with the motor, and the motor should be replaced. Blank Keypad Display
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving a blank keypad displayed on your EG-400. A blank display on the keypad is an indicator that there is no power being supplied to the keypad. There are a few reasons why this may be happening listed below. For the purpose of troubleshooting it is assumed that the unit is plugged into an operational receptacle and properly powered on at the disconnect switch the electrical box open. Only qualified personnel should open the electrical box on the grinder. VFD Has No Display If upon power up the VFD has no display, qualified personnel will need to meter the incoming voltage at terminals L1 and L2 of the VFD. If 208-220Vac is present, the VFD has failed and needs to be replaced. If there is no voltage metered, qualified personnel must then meter the L1 and L2 terminals at the bottom of the disconnect switch. If voltage is metered at this point, the EMC filter which is mounted below the VFD has failed and needs to be replaced. VFD Displays “JF” A “JF” fault code indicates a loss of communication between the keypad and VFD. Qualified personnel will need to reattach disconnected wires between VFD and keypad. If all wiring is sound and still no keypad display, the keypad has failed and needs to be replaced. For additional technical support needs, contact our technical support team.
"PF" Displayed on Keypad
This guide will walk you through the steps to understanding and resolving the "PF" message displayed on your EG-400 keypad. “PF” is a fault message indicating that the motor has been drawing more amps than the current limit setting entered into the VFD. To clear this fault, the operator must issue a stop command from the keypad. The grinder will not restart unless the fault condition has been corrected. The warning message “CL” is the precursor to “PF”. When the grinder is operated under a CL warning message for multiple seconds the “PF” fault will disable the grinder. See “CL” solution article.
