Hummingbird vs M-1 and X-1 Mini

Since we announced Hummingbird yesterday, a lot of the questions we've received have been about how Hummingbird compares to our current lineup, specifically the M-1 and X-1 Mini.

We will be doing some in-depth video content, but we are waiting until we are able to build Hummingbird with the final production parts. Hummingbird is still in a sort of final prototype phase. We have some final production parts but not all of them yet. So while we wait, I figured I would just post a quick overview blog article.

Similarities

First of all, it's important to point out that all Goodnature juicers are real two-stage cold press juice presses. All of our models make the world's best juice, which is why it's trusted by thousands of juice bars in over seventy countries. No matter which machine you own, you can rest assured you are serving the best cold-pressed juice. To learn more about what makes the Goodnature method the best, check out the Goodnature Difference.

Also, all three of the models being compared here feature:

  • FreshFilter press bags - single use compostable press bags require no cleaning or sanitizing.
  • Press and walk-away - While the press is working, you can go do other things in your kitchen like prepare the next recipe or start bottling juice.
  • Commercial grade - all three machines are built to sustain commercial use, and are built from durable commercial materials.
  • As mentioned above, all Goodnature machines are true cold press juicers with an actual press.

Hummingbird vs M-1

Depending on your use case, it's easy to determine which product is best. Basically, if you are producing made-to-order juice one glass at a time, M-1 is the best choice. M-1 features a large, fast grinder, and a fast press (2 minutes), so you can make a 16 ounce glass of juice in just a few minutes.

Making a single glass of juice would take longer on Hummingbird (about 5 minutes), so that extra time would not be preferred for a business serving on-demand juice.

If your use-case is making bulk juice to bottle, Hummingbird is definitely the best choice. Hummingbird has a larger press and achieves higher yield. Depending on the model, Hummingbird can produce 30-60 12 oz bottles of juice per hour. The M-1 is limited to about 15-20 bottles per hour and takes more work since you need to press more frequently.

Hummingbird Pro XL vs X-1 Mini

The main difference between Hummingbird Pro XL and X-1 Mini is the grinder. X-1 Mini features our WholeFruit hopper, which can accept large produce and handfuls of leafy greens. That allows for :

  1. Faster grinding, especially with leafy greens
  2. Less prep time since the hopper is larger, and it can accept larger fruit, even whole apples.

So although the max output is comparable on both machines, depending your workflow and recipes, the X-1 Mini can be faster if you factor in prep time, or if you're juicing a lot of leafy greens.

X-1 Mini also has a slightly larger press, which allows for larger batches. However, Hummingbird achieves higher yield, especially from root vegetables due to the new dual-cutting patent pending blade. So, the actual amount of juice they both make is pretty close.

Hummingbird is easier to clean since all of the food-contact parts can be removed and brought to the sink or dish-washer. It also features some other new inventions like the integrated recipe bins and intelligent display.

So, the differences between Hummingbird Pro XL and X-1 Mini are a bit closer. Both products are great machines. The X-1 Mini has been trusted by thousands of businesses since we launched it in 2016, and Hummingbird will be too!

Charlie, based on dimensions and weight, do you have any estimate on shipping costs to Bucerias Mexico? I would like to take advantage of the presale but don’t want any surprises with the final bill.

Why make the hopper smaller? Seems like the only thing keeping this from being a straight upgrade over both. How long is the manifold expected to last in this model before needing replacement?

We made the grinder smaller so the machine can be more compact and lighter weight. There is no manifold in this machine it is mechanical not pneumatic

We just purchased our second x-1 mini we’re making about 300-400 juices a week. Don’t think the hummingbird xl could have been an option for us? The price difference is substantial.

The X-1 mini is a great machine for that volume. Hummingbird Pro XL could also achieve that volume
